Our Founder
Onju is more than just a brand; it's a heartfelt tribute to my childhood and reflection of my personal journey. Inspired by my childhood nickname “onon,” which evokes warmth and familiarity, “ju,” which means little piggy in Cantonese, often used as a term of endearment. This playful connotation adds an extra layer of meaning to Onju, reminding us to embrace the joy and lightheartedness found in our relationships and everyday moments.
As an introvert, I faced my share of challenges and low phases; moving abroad for school as a child, adapting to university life in another country, and navigating the complexities of adulthood and parental relationships. During these difficult times, I found solace in small rituals like treating myself to a candle and lighting it to create a calming atmosphere. Little did I know, these simple acts became a lifeline. Through the process of making candles as a hobby, I discovered a creative outlet that not only brightened my space but also lifted my spirit, transforming moments of uncertainty into opportunities for self love and reflection.
